What is Tungsten ?
Tungsten is a hard grey metal that belongs to the transition metals. It has a number of uses and applications one of which is the making of rings worn by people for weddings. These two grades of Tungsten make different types of rings, the industrial grade Tungsten is used alongside Cobalt alloy which is allergic to the skin and also tarnishes because of its quick oxidising property. Rings made from industrial Tungsten are much more cheaper compared to rings made from jewellery grade Tungsten which uses Nickel as an alloy which is hypo-allergic and does not easily tarnish, therefore it is highly advisable to understand the grade of Tungsten used before purchasing a Tungsten Carbide ring.
The hardness feature of Tungsten Carbide contributes to the cheap nature of the Tungsten carbide rings since the rings cannot be reshaped/resized later in line with the changing size of the finger. This makes it a one time purchasing product without resizing offers. You can only buy another ring that suits the size of your finger and of the same style as the other one.
The fact that Tungsten carbide rings are brittle contributes to their cheapness, this is because the ring cannot be long lasting because it can break easily. In case the ring drops to the ground, or excess pressure/force is applied on it, it can easily chip or crack making it not that reliable as a long lasting ring.
Also the fact that Tungsten rings are not made from pure Tungsten metal makes them cheap since small percentage is used to make the ring making its cost of production less which translates to its cheap price in the market.
It is therefore advisable that before you make the decision of buying a Tungsten Carbine ring, you are supposed to take these factors into consideration, this will help you make an informed decision about the Tungsten carbide ring that you are about to purchase that you will not regret later.
